Hey kids, here’s what’s been happening with local artists in the last day.

First off it’s regularly featured lassie Rachel Sermanni. She has been having a CRAZY year and this weekend she was at the Reading festival for BBC Introducing. You can watch some of her set here.

If you haven’t seen The Little Mill of Happiness live yet….well you’re shit out of luck for a while as they are having a gig break. On the plus side it’s to do a bit of writing. To prepare yourselves for the experience I recommend buying the Capsized Sailors EP here and then playing it a lot.

For those of you playing the news bingo game put a cross in the Cleavers box. Well sort of, it’s just Danny on his own with an acoustic guitar. Here’s Fading All Away. Nothing like the normal stuff but my ears holes liked it and wouldn’t mind hearing more like it.

I was going to link a bunch of Rockhopper sessions yesterday but went a bit mad trying to work out what ones I hadn’t linked yet. Pretty sure this one is new to these posts though. SO goNorth/Netsounds Unsigned (credit where it’s due) had Roadway in playing Midnight Dance. Fantastic stuff, and make sure you are at the Ironworks to watch them round out the Showcases in style.

You have until Saturday to win 1 of 5 pairs of tickets to Daft Funk in Dingwall. Head over to the Musique Dingwall page, friend them and when it’s approved like and share the indicated picture, it’s the last couple of posts. Should be a good night, even if it is just to see me looking out of place and throwing shapes.

And we’ll finish up with a wee bit of Scooty and the Skyhooks with Rescue Me from their support slot with Jools Holland at the weekend. They’ve also been posting photos galore. Well done to all the locals who had support slots this weekend for the 4 big gigs. Well 3, have no idea IF anyone supported JLS and if they did who it could possibly have been. Mind boggles.

Please give the page on Facebook a like to keep up with all the updates to the site and thanks as always for reading.

Hey kids. Here’s what local bands have been saying for themselves/doing/releasing over the last day.

If you missed the Showcase the other day, well shame on you, but also you don’t have to feel entirely left out. #FrontRoomUnplugged have a wee bit of Little Mill of Happiness for you right here. Now you know what you missed and won’t repeat the mistake.

Speaking of things and missing them. As I said yesterday I failed to catch The Cleavers when they played the Ironworks on Wednesday. Some kind sole recorded the whole set up in Wick though. So here it is for your enjoyment. Sound is a bit on the dodgy side, they are a loud bunch of boys, so pretend it’s MW radio or summit. Btw if you were at the Elgin show this week and are down a pair of glasses someone put them in Dave’s bag so give them a shout to get them back. Also, they have some new posters going in their merch store.

KOBI, who you also either saw or missed at the Showcase, have been up at Bogbain Farm to do some recording (it’s a studio now dontcha know). For what, I don’t know but can’t wait to find out.

Speaking of recording (I should stop starting paragraphs with “speaking of” but it makes things look planned) Lewis Hamilton (of And The Boogie Brothers fame) has set up a new page for Lewis Hamilton Music which is his indie label. The page says that they’re currently working on a blues compilation album with the best of Scottish blues. I can think of a few people I hope are on there.

You may have noticed by now I have quite a broad taste in music, which is handy if your doing a music page really.

And there’s another new page, this one a website not a Facebook though they HAVE a FB obviously, on the go. Inverness Gigs have been a bit quiet lately but they’re back now with some new artwork courtesy of Sodium3. They post news and reviews and the like, like this preview for Daft Funk in Dingwall.

If you are so inclined, and I am as I love a bit of Daft Punk, you can win tickets to that gig courtesy of Musique Dingwall. Just find the Daft Funk post (most recent as I’m writing) like it and share it. Like wot I did.

Sienna Lights will be getting a bit of air play on Jim Gellatly’s show on Amazing Radio this Sunday. The show is on between 2 and 4pm at this here web page and it’ll be your chance to hear a bit of the EP before it’s officially out next month (though some have been available at festivals and that. I’m getting mine on Thursday at the next showcase and there’s a few others up for grabs. Preview piece coming, EP review closer to launch).

Donald Macdonald and The Islands have uploaded an accoustic performance of their new song Ryan (or Heart Ryan Can’t Fix possibly). It’s really very good.

And that’ll do it. Please like this sites new Facebook page, then share it about and invite your friends so they don’t miss out 🙂
