Music News Quickie 12/01/2013

Hey everyone

I’ve decided to make the music news posts a weekly thing BUT you’ll be too late for this if I don’t post about it now SO:

KOBI / Them&Us: KOBI have a single coming out in…a while. You can’t get your hands on that yet but you CAN get your hands on a remix of it done by the Them&Us boys. The remix of A New Before is available here as a free for nothing download until….well today is the last day. Sorry about that, but there haven’t been any news posts. So go grab it quick!

The rest of the news will be with you tomorrow 🙂

Music News 06/12/2012

Hey kids, here’s today’s goings on that have gone on. Think today could be super short.

Most people tend to do the odd cover now and again. Generally it’s a big band. Not always though. Here‘s a video of local musicians Emily Mackinnon and Ben Hessling doing a cover of Sara Bills and the Hasbeens song Morning After The Night Before. Nice one. Should be more of this kind of thing.

Inverness Gigs have been getting in contact with the people from their 2012 ones to watch list. Here’s Steve Robertson on the year from Kobi’s perspective and here is Donald Forbes and Ally Macleod talking about the Red Hook Rapids year.

And that’s your lot, catch you next time 🙂

Music News 01/12/2012

Hey kids, here’s all the news that’s fit for youse

Be Like Pablo are currently booking their 2013 summer tour. If you are a booker, or know someone who is, give them a shout at band@belikepablo.com to book a date sometime in July or August

Inverness Gigs has posted a few interviews. First up one with the lead singer of Glasvegas ahead of their gig in the Ironworks on Wednesday (KOBI in support). And the second with Stephen Barbour who’s the organiser of the MV Festival in Aviemore looking back at last years and forward to the next one.

Speaking of interviews, but hitting it from the other side of the table. Prefix magazine, they’re from the states, had a wee natter with Phillip from PAWS about this that and the other.

If you want a physical copy of Life Is Shit by Cleavers then you’ll have to wait until at least the 10th as there has been a delay at the pressing plant. You can still get your ears around a digital version in the mean time though. And they have a video of some kind on the way, yay!

The Oxides have a new tune! It’s called It’s All Going Wrong Today, it’s ace and it also feels a bit fitting for me right now.

Want an epic beard like Toby from Toby Michaels’ Rolling Damned? Well, it takes a while in real life BUT if you drop them a message you can at least have a picture of you looking awesomely bearded. Also, if you ordered a t-shirt then it should be with you soon. Not sure if you can still order or if they were ordered to…order. And finally it was the first day of auditions for their film project. Apparently they went very well, so things are coming together nicely.

And finally, a couple of Jemma Tweedie bits. First off if you heard her session on East Lothian FM a couple of weeks back you heard her doing a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit. If you DIDN’T catch that you can hear that cover here. And a track from the Two Hands EP was on Radio 2 this afternoon, iplayer here. She’s at 1.51 if you don’t want to listen to the whole thing but Dermot does a good show. She’s also in heavy rotation on another good show btw 😉

And that’s you all caught up with the Highland scene’s happenings. I say that but I am also aware I’m not covering absolutely everyone. I do have a large list of bands from around these sizeable parts to look in to though, so it’ll be a bit more complete as time goes by. Give the Facebook a like and go tell all your mates.
